What ingredients are in the CardioAssist formula and what do they do?

The CardioAssist formula contains a blend of plant sterols, niacin, folic acid and Vitamins B6 and B12 to lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol and maintain healthy levels of HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and homocysteines.*  The first ingredient, plant sterols, help reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering total and LDL (bad) cholesterol.  They work by mimicking cholesterol and blocking absorption of dietary cholesterol in the small intestine, where it is passed from the body.

Niacin has two functions in this formula. First, Niacin helps to maintain healthy triglyceride levels.  Second, Niacin helps maintain healthy levels of HDL , or good cholesterol.  HDL levels that are too low are a risk factor for heart disease.

Finally, the combination of Vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid help maintain healthy homocysteine levels.*  When elevated, homocysteines can cause irritation to the blood vessels
