What are five ways you can reduce your cholesterol level?

  1. Eat plenty of foods with natural antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables.
  2. Eat foods low in saturated fats, like fat free or 1% dairy products, lean meats, fish, skinless poultry, and fruits and vegetables.
  3. Use soft margarines (liquid or tub varieties) low in saturated fat with little or no trans fat.
  4. Include oatmeal, whole grains, and fruit (skin included) in your diet. Fiber-rich foods may help lower your total cholesterol level.
  5. Make physical activity part of your daily routine. Regular exercise can actually increase the "good" HDL and reduce the "bad" LDL.
